Black Widow: The Name of the Rose

In 2010, writer Marjorie Liu and artist Daniel Acuña collaborated on one of the most definitive Black Widow stories to date.

Black Widow: The Name of the Rose pulls readers into an adventure that explores Natasha Romanoff's deepest and darkest secret, one that is turned against her by a mysterious foe. The story flawlessly demonstrates Natasha's multi-faceted nature as it takes us through two timelines that bridge Natasha's personas. In doing so, we embark on the opportunity to explore Natasha's struggles in coming to terms with her past that she has spent most of her life trying to move on from. Additionally, the story showcases the details of her personas as an assassin, an ally, and human being.

The Name of the Rose is a tale I would recommend to anyone getting started with the Black Widow character. It is a heartbreaking tale, though one with an uplifting conclusion, that will allow you to understand the character in a way you may not have before.

So, join us as we discuss this monumental run and the ways in which we admire the Black Widow herself, Natasha Romanoff.
